Our new Japanese friends also took us to see the Hase Temple which was a short walk from the Big Buddha. The park surrounding the temple was beautiful and had a wonderful view! An old legend says that its nine meter tall, eleven faced gold Kannon was sculpted by a holy monk in 721, and washed ashore to this place when the monk let it drift in the ocean. Unfortunately cameras were not allowed inside the temple....it was simply gorgeous though!
